Dolnośląskie Surowce Skalne S.A. is a leading Polish crushed aggregate supplier. Major products offered by DSS include motorway and railway aggregate as well as aggregate used for the production of ready mixed concrete. DSS is one of the major aggregate suppliers for A1, A2 motorways and Wrocław Motorway By-pass.
The company extracts high quality amphibolite and migmatite deposits located in Piława Górna. Aggregate production is conducted in one of the largest and most modern processing plants in Europe. Quarry production capacity is currently characterized by 7.5 million tonnes annually.
The Company
Piława Górna Quarry
Located in Lower Silesia the migmatite and amphibolite deposit excavated by DSS is one of the largest rock mineral deposit for the production of crushed aggregate in Poland.
Modern Production Plant
Production of aggregate offered by DSS is conducted in two independent units – the stationary plant and in the mobile plant which supports its function at the moment. Both plants are located directly near the quarry and their collective production capacity is 7.5 million tonnes annually.
Aggregate is loaded in the fully automated railway siding integrated with the stationary plant. Production line construction process and achieving full production capacity was finished in June 2009.
Stationary plant was designed from the scratch with the application of the state of the art technological solutions and machinery and equipment were delivered by international reputable companies. Due to this fact DSS has a plant of the significant production potential one of the most modern of this type in Europe.
Favorable location
Aggregates produced by DSS are supplied to clients by rail (major part) and by road transport (within 60 kilometres from Piława Górna). The quarry and the plant are located near the railway line of the more than regional importance and the international route E67.
Considering the fact that the majority of hard deposits of crushed aggregates are located in Lower Silesia, the production plant and the quarry belonging to DSS are favourably located in relation to the majority of significant road and motorway projects which are realized or their commencement is planned in the near future. It is significantly important as about 50 per cent of the aggregate market price is the cost of transportation.
